CIVIL & ENVIRONMENTAL US Navy - SWDIV Project Background The site investigations performed over the past 10 years have provided extensive characterization data, but lacked a uniform strategy for identifying and eliminating chemicals of potential concern. Through extensive background research and database queries, ERRG was able to concisely summarize the previous investigation data to successfully demonstrate that sufficient data existed to make a remedial decision that is protective of human health and the environment. The presence of residential housing, a school and day care facility at the site has resulted in increased public scrutiny of the project. ERRG has worked closely with the Navy to discuss and resolve technical concerns raised by the agencies and public during the document review process. This included presenting at Base Closure Team and Restoration Advisory Board meetings, and preparing a fact sheet describing the biosparging alternative. |
